North Carolina’s 16 public universities are not mandating COVID vaccines, citing a “lack of clear legal authority.” But public colleges in some other states are requiring them.

Alumni at some of the nation’s most prestigious universities have come together to take a stand against the recent trend of blatant censorship and assaults on free speech in higher education.

As chief executive of student-lending giant Sallie Mae, Al Lord helped drive up the costs of college. Now that he is footing tuition checks for his grandchildren, he said he has new sympathy for ordinary families.

CORONAVIRUS

Many students who could qualify for help, who are disproportionately Black and Hispanic, seem to be responding to the economic uncertainties by taking newly abundant jobs.

A hallmark of attending college in the United States, campus tours are returning after a year-long hiatus triggered by the coronavirus pandemic.

TRADES

They are smaller than they used to be (by colleges’ choice) and are mostly outside. But many colleges fear the Delta variant could change things for the worse.

New program is training Connecticut college students to support local health departments in their COVID-19 vaccination outreach campaigns.
