Many schools have jumped at the chance to join the hundreds of colleges that have some sort of vaccine mandate, hoping to keep students safe, campuses filled and legal concerns at bay.

Students object to the college’s policies limiting off-campus activities, and a debate ensues over whether the policies overreach or are appropriately cautious.

Summit opened its first Charlotte shop in December 2020 in NoDa. Now, it’s adding a franchise location about a mile away on The Plaza between the Villa Heights and Plaza Hills neighborhoods.

CORONAVIRUS

Many of the state’s college students are leaning into the vaccine mandate, welcoming the chance to return to campus in person.

What this means, according to researchers, is that students who may have opted to transfer in previous years have instead stayed put at their schools or withdrawn altogether.

It was unclear how much money, if any, was disbursed to the suspicious students. The federal Education Department said it was investigating the suspected fraud.

A whopping 92 percent of the freshmen — attending either two-year or four-year institutions — say they’re optimistic about their personal lives, a new poll finds.

The average starting salary for the college Class of 2020 was $55,260.
