Widespread support for protesters may not translate into policy.

Davidson College President Carol Quillen told the college’s board Wednesday that she plans to step away after the upcoming academic year.

CORONAVIRUS

There is a wide gulf among colleges and universities as to whether to mandate vaccinations or not. Some schools are avoiding vaccination metrics and mandates. Others are keeping close tabs on vaccine jabs. The goal for all institutions is a normal school year despite the summer surge of the dangerous delta variant that is leading campuses across the country to ask students once again to wear masks indoors.

Students at UNC System schools already must “get vaccinated or get tested.” Now faculty and staff must do the same.
