The founders of the University of Austin say they want to defend intellectual dissent, and declare that something in higher education is fundamentally broken.

Bari Weiss co-founded the University of Austin, featuring Pano Kanelos, Joshua Katz, and Kathleen Stock – but no leftist professors. It’s no different than the right’s many previous efforts to establish alternatives to traditional higher education.

The university's mission is to create a “fiercely independent” school that offers an alternative to what founders see as a rise in “illiberalism” on college campuses.

But at least for now, there are only 15 spots available
